What is the u3a?

The u3a enables retired and semi-retired people to come together and learn together, not for qualifications but for its own reward - the sheer joy of discovery! Members share their skills and life experiences - the learners teach and the teachers learn, and there is no distinction between them.

The Moseley, Kings Heath and District u3a serves the south west of Birmingham.

Events

General meeting on 20th of July

We will be holding our first post pandemic meeting in the Irish Centre on Wheelers Lane, B13 0ST at 2 pm until 3.30 with a bar then open until 4 pm.

This will be an opportunity to meet up with friends, make new ones and meet the new committee.

There will be no speaker for the first two sessions as the focus is on socialising after the enforced isolation of the last two years. In a nod to the recent Platinum Jubilee there will be a pen/ pencil and paper quiz of 70 questions covering 1952-2022. Tables will be set out in cabaret style and this will enable a lot of chit chat and some reminiscing over the quiz!

We look forward to seeing many of you there. The 11, 27 and 76 buses go nearby on Brook Lane and Hollybank Road respectively. Ring and ride are now operating too. There is plenty of car parking space available and the venue is wheelchair accessible.

Coffee and biscuits in the park

Every second Friday of the month from 10.30 to 12.00 there will be endless coffee/tea and biscuits in the cafe in Kings Heath Park for our members at a cost of £3 each.

u3a Choir

Due to circumstances entirely outside their control, the u3a choir is changing their day for rehearsals. From 31 January 2022, choir will be rehearsing each Monday afternoon from 14.15 until 16.00 at their usual venue, St Columba’s Church, in Moseley. The choir is keen to welcome new members.
